Using a hair or fur sample that is longer than 1 inch from the root end of the hair or not obtaining an adequate amount of sample for testing. Also, not allowing at least four hours after shampooing and drying before obtaining sample. This does not allow time for the sodium and potassium to re-establish normal levels.
