When the liver is not functioning optimally, iron can travel in the blood in an unbound, free radical state. The body attempts to remove this iron via any excretory fluid of the body, in an attempt to keep the cells safe from the radical metal. Supplying the liver with the proper nutrients to function normally, can eliminate this discoloration.
